Last weekend, Lee decided to address the bird issue that we thought we had in our chimney. He climbed on the roof and jumped to the top of the fireplace. When he peered in expecting to see birds, two big eyes blinked at him. He fell backwards onto the roof and Sean came running in saying it was something the size of a bear cub.
Lee was fine and then went to work trying to smoke the raccoon out. The raccoon really did not want to leave.
Once the raccoon made it to the other side of the roof, Lee sealed the chimney.
Thinking all was well, late that evening we heard a very angry raccoon trying to rip open the basket that is on top of the chimney. We listened to it from inside the house, and then realized there were baby raccoons in the chimney. Lee went back on the roof, removed the basket, and all was quiet again. Once they are old enough to leave, it will be put back on.
