This Week's Adventures

We had our good friends, Cari, Philip and their girls come and stay from Sunday until Tuesday early this week. We missed having Landen and Luke, but I'm sure we will see them another time. The kids spent most of the time outside, the moms were able to escape for a walk and a shopping/lunch excursion, and the dads enjoyed a night at the Rangers game.

On Wednesday, Sean and I redeemed his free tickets from a reading program at Six Flags.
And, on Thursday, we slept :)

Nana and Poppy

Nana and Poppy brought Sean home last weekend and stayed the night with us. Lee gave them the tour and we stopped by our local farmers market and stocked up.

What A Week!

This week Sean has been with grandparents and attending an art camp. Lee decided that since we had the week to ourselves, he would implement date night each evening. Since Sunday, we have eaten at a different restaurant, seen a movie, been to the Stockyards, listened to live music, walked the streets of Fort Worth, visited a western art gallery, and strolled through the botanical gardens at dusk - all at a leisurely pace. I've been spoiled rotten. It wraps up today with a lunch date and redeeming a massage gift certificate that Lee gave me at the beginning of the week. I am thankful for my thoughtful husband! Sean and his Nana and Poppy will be here tonight. Even though we've had a great week, we are excited for Sean to return home. Here are a few photos from walking around yesterday.

Five Words

Five words shouted that can stop my heart -

I ran outside with a shovel thinking Sean had found a copperhead.

Luckily, it was a speckled king snake. I let him live another day since he likes to eat poisonous snakes - that's my kind of snake :)

This weekend we went to Rob and Stephanie's

for a BBQ and swimming.

The "kids" seemed to enjoy the ice cream.

We headed east over the long holiday weekend to Lee's mom's house. Lee was able to get in some much needed fishing time and we also attended a small town celebration. Sean and Grandma even won the smallest tomato contest.

The lawnmower in the parade enticed Lee, Sean, and Grandma to head back to see the lawnmower races - speeds faster than 80 m.p.h.

More from the Weekend

We were able to see fireworks in East Texas,

but we also did a few in our driveway.

Leapin' Lizards

I don't know where the term "leapin' lizards" came from, but I do have a theory... Someone had a Texas Spiny Lizard run across their path on the way to the mailbox and that person jumped in the air and yelled "leapin' lizards!" At least that's what I did!
