We Finally Did It!

My husband is a spontaneous man - which I love. He checked the weather last week and saw that it was going to beautiful so he took three days off so that we could go camping. We headed to southeastern Oklahoma and had a delightful family vacation. There was lots of rock throwing, hiking, searching for crawfish, and picnics as well as putt-putt, paddle boating and a train ride.

Other than the ants we inadvertently brought with us, the pit toilets, and 6:30 am crow calls, it was a great trip! Hopefully some of you will join us on our next trip!

Weekend Camping

Our plans for camping in Oklahoma were thwarted
due to the rain this weekend,
but it didn't dampen our spirits.
We roasted hot dogs after the rain on Friday
and pitched a tent in the living room. We've had a guest staying with us - Flat Esther (aka Flat Stanley).
She missed her big camping opportunity,
but she is going with us on many other adventures.

Making the News

Yesterday our little town made the news due to wildfires.
Three neighborhoods were evacuated across the freeway from us.
This house was saved.Thanks in large part to the brave firefighters...

On The Mend

My mother requested updated pictures of Sean's face.
He's on the mend and much better.
He has enjoyed retelling the story and also thought
it made him look tough for the soccer game.

A Trip to LA

Last week I was able to travel to Los Angeles to spend a few days with my sister and help her pack up her apartment. I did not bring the camera on this trip. These pictures were taken last May when I went to visit for my birthday.Her old apartment

on this trip we were able to go to the observatory and
see the sun set into the Pacific Ocean - it was beautiful!

A Shiner

We had a bit of excitement today while Sean had a friend over.
While racing, Sean tripped and hit the edge of our deck with his face. (Thanks be to God, that he didn't hit his eye.) He didn't cry and was out riding his bike when his friend said "Ms. Kathy, Sean fell and I think he's hurt." I didn't think anything of it until I saw the new growth on his face. The picture doesn't do it justice - much larger and more colorful. However, all is well, and he can't wait to have his soccer picture taken tomorrow :)
