A Visit To Grandma's

Sean, my nephew, and I headed to Northeast Texas
early this week to spend time at Grandma's house. Checking out pictures of Papa's big fish that he caught.

Fun in the country

Riding the tire swing over and over!

Super soakers on a hot day!

Fishin' With Grandma

More from our trip...
The boys went fishing and were able to catch 2 fish each.
After that, it started getting pretty hot so we headed to the truck. I came to the realization that I've gone SOFT - and truth be told, it is embarrassing. It was all I could do to put a worm on the hook and I had to ask my mother-in-law to get the fish off the hook for Sean.

Thoughts for Thursday

I guide you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths.
When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;
when you run, you will not stumble.
Hold on to instruction, do not let it go:
guard it well, for it is your life.
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked

or walk in the way of evil men.

Proverbs 4:11-14

Thoughts for Thursday

And God said,
"This is the sign of the covenant I am making
between me and you
and every living creature with you,
a covenant for all generations to come:
I have set my rainbow in the clouds,
and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.
Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.

Genesis 9:12-15

(Photos taken last week over our house
after some pretty rough weather.
The photos do not do justice - there were two full rainbows.
It was forcasted that we were in the path of a tornado
and grapefruit sized hail - both missed us.)

Annual Retreat

I can't recall how long we've been doing this, but each year we attend our friends Christina and Mark's family reunion. We camp out and have a fish fry, music, fishing, hiking, boating, and a huge morning breakfast. I believe the last count was 80 scrambled eggs in a cast iron skillet cooked in bacon grease. Other than our air mattress having a leak and the tent zipper breaking and Lee driving to borrow another one, it was a fun time. Playing with the minnows

Four Generations

On Saturday, four generations of fishermen spent a day together.
Sean caught the first fish. They had a memorable time.

Thoughts for Thursday

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
