Enjoying the Week

Making cookies...before I learned to put a cookie sheet under the bowl to catch all the spilled ingredients. (Thanks Christy!)

My two helpers...teamwork on making treats

A completed puzzle...whew! When he was done I said "Let's put it back in the box". Sean looked at me like I was crazy and replied "What?".

Thoughts for Thursday

The Lord is near.  Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Fall

This sweater dress has horses...really cute! Sean looks funny headless!

Fun activity with chalk at the pumpkin patch

Both boys said...the bottles are made of glass and the words are painted on and it only cost $1.60 (each)! This amazing treasure has been cleaned out and saved ;)

Kate loves pumpkins

Lee's Getaway

Lee was able to get away for a long weekend last week for his birthday.  He took a backpacking trip in Guadalupe Mountains National Park in West Texas.  He said being out in the mountains was good for the soul.
The cold front is moving over the mountains.

Texas Horned Lizard ("horned toad")

I obviously wasn't there to say "Cheese" !  After hiking all that they wanted to accomplish carrying 60 pound packs, and one night of sleeping on the rocks and in the cold, they came back a night early.  Happy Birthday :)

Thoughts for Thursday

The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

In Search of Candy

We spent the evening at our church's Trunk or Treat.
Sean was Obi Wan again this year...the mask is not meant to be scary, but it is.
Kate was Rapunzel. We all ended up with glitter on us.
Keeping it real

Kate was all about the candy

Ronnie

Our dear friend Ronnie Bishop died unexpectantly last week.
I cannot remember not knowing her.  She always had a smile, a laugh, and a great big hug.  She sang at our wedding and her version of "O Holy Night" is etched in memory as my favorite.

Ila B.

Lee's grandmother, Mammy, passed away on October 7th.
She was born in 1919 and shared the same first name with my grandmother, Ila.
We celebrated her life last week.  During the funeral, Sean read some memories that Lee had of his grandmother.  Kate cheered and clapped after each song. Ila B's pastor said that she was the only one he knew of that represented the Proverbs 31 woman.

September Shots

Lee's only weekend off this month was opening weekend of dove season.  He and Sean had a great time hunting with friends.

Sean has been deliriously happy playing soccer again.
The boy can kick a ball past midfield and almost to the opponents goal....crazy.

Kate enjoying nutella and apples for the first time.

Kate is loving her class at Mother's Day Out.  I'm not sure which she likes more, her class or caring her own backpack by herself.  Since turning 2, her vocabulary has increased exponentially.

Turned Ten Today

Sean turned 10 today...hard to believe he is a double digit.
He enjoyed his day...

and receiving presents.

He loved the new bike even though he completely missed seeing it this morning...
right in front of him, with a bow.
Our friend, Ms. Andrea, dropped Darth Vader off at the front door.

It startled my mother, but it was really funny.  He will stay the night with us and then he is off again tomorrow to entertain others.

Turned Two

Kate turned two on Labor Day.
 We had a small celebration.
She enjoyed opening the presents and trying them out.
This was a fun gift.

23 Months!

Kate turns two on Monday and I thought I better get in some 23 month pictures.  We have seen all the grandparents this month and have been busy enjoying the end of summer.
We recently went to the zoo and Kate waved and said "hi" to all the animals...very funny!
 She loved the zoo.

Thoughts for Thursday

What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

Summer Shots

This summer has flown by.  Sean was invited to Great Wolf Lodge earlier this summer with my nephew and sister-in-law.  He had an awesome time!

Sean and the neighbor boys worked hard this summer earning money for a day outing to Main Event (bowling, laser tag, etc).  They were proud of their efforts and look forward to starting a business next summer.  Sean has already picked out the truck he wants at the used car lot for when he turns 16...egads!
