I’m in my 18th week of pregnancy and obviously have had some challenges in the emotional, social, and mental areas of my life. Here are some clues that maybe helpful to others:
• You cry in the movie “How to Train Your Dragon”• You look cuter in your friend’s pregnancy clothes than in your own pre-pregnancy clothes, so you box up a majority of your clothes to send to a charity
• An acquaintance approaches you while you are waiting at a crowded restaurant. They say “Congratulations!” You are not making eye contact so when the next thing they say is “How long have you been waiting?”, you pipe up with “Six years!”. While the people around you are laughing, your husband quickly comes to your rescue with “About 15 minutes, but it seems like six years.” You think, maybe I should be embarrassed and it quickly fades to when can we eat.
• You are the human garbage disposal at the end of meals….and don’t care.
• And last but not least…you starch three rooms of furniture. Little signals are going off in your head like “hmm, gold cap” or “odd smell” or “maybe I should iron”. You set up the ironing board, plug in the iron, and go to grab the starch but grab the furniture polish instead. Then you yell “*@#$!” You then remember your Lenten Bible verse that you have been failing at miserably “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth…” You realize it is time to sit down and prop your feet up. While sitting, you realize that the reason why the starch didn't harm the furniture was that the dust layer was probably thick enough not to penetrate and cause damage. And then, you take a deep sigh.
