Soccer Season is Over

One of the dad's on our soccer team sent us these photos
of Sean from this season.  He and his team were so much fun to watch.  One Saturday they asked the parents and coaches to be silent so we could enjoy the sounds of the kids playing.  I thought I would implode.  I like to do my fair share of cheering and encouraging.

Thoughts for Thursday

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace,
the God we serve is able to save us from it,
and he will rescue us from your hand, O King.
But even if he does not,
we want you to know, O King, that we will not serve your gods
or worship the image of gold you have set up.

Baby Belly

We have it narrowed down to a couple of names for our baby girl - hopefully we'll have a firm decision  soon.  Her bedding has arrived, rooms have been rearranged, and painting has commenced.  Sean bought a "Little Sister" onesie this week and is working on a painting on canvas for her room.  Lee is convinced that she will not be in the current room long.  He would rather have her at the back of the house with a dog outside her window ;)

Bluebonnets are Bloomin'

We have a small field of bluebonnets in our front yard.
I'm not sure how many more opportunities I'll have to take a picture of Sean smiling in flowers :)

Thoughts for Thursday

Direct my footsteps according to your word;
let no sin rule over me.

Prep and Planning

The battle was a success!  The kids won 3 to 2.
I'm not sure who was having more fun...the dads or the kids.

The Battle

For months, Sean has been preparing and planning for battle. Tomorrow is the day. Kids will battle Dads in our backyard in a capture the flag type game, and they will be allowed to use weapons. Examples include: marshmallow guns, nerf guns, rubber band guns, water balloons and water guns, soft balls, etc. Participants are also coming dressed for battle – face paint and camo. This event has been discussed daily…at length…with great imagination. Grandparents have been recruited as spies. Books have been read about battles. Sean and I have even asked a police officer about the legality of using the local airport for air support in dropping water balloons. He assured us that it was against the law but standing on a roof with water balloons was not – I thanked him for his help but let him know that the 7 year olds would not be on the roof, but it wasn’t out of the question for the dads.

Today, Sean was a little concerned that the Dads may beat them. So, we went to the local Marine Recruiting Office and asked for their advice. They pulled out a large white erase board and black marker and told Sean in detail how to defeat the Dads. The Marines also said if they did not already have prior commitments that they would have shown up in full gear to ambush the Dads. (I would have loved to seen the looks on the Dads' faces!) They told him they wanted a full report next week and gave him a couple of water bottles that say “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” Sean hung on every word and could repeat the battle plans after we left.

Pictures will follow…

Thoughts for Thursday

"Do not be afraid,
for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here;
he has risen,
just as he said."

No Foolin'

We found out on April 1st that we are having a girl!  Sean immediately whispered to his Dad "It is April Fools Day.  Maybe she's playing a trick."  The nurse assured him that she was not.  After buying a couple of outfits, Sean is quickly warming to the idea of being a big brother to a little sister.  Lee has gone soft and I think he will be totally useless in the discipline department.  I just noticed that she has my belly :)

Thoughts for Thursday

"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!"
